OneOffEMail Frequently Asked Questions
What is OneOffEmail.Com?
I'm sick of giving my email address to every freaking website I visit - sign up
for this, sign up for that - verify your email by clicking on a link. Next
thing I know, my 6 month old gmail account is getting hammered by SPAM from
God-who-knows-where and good luck tracking down the company that sold my address
to some lame spammer.
So, I got fed up enough to do something about it.
OneOffEmail.Com is a site that will give you an email address that you can use
to checkout while online shopping at a retailer or when you signup on some forum
that wants you to verify by clicking on a link. The email address is only good
for 7 days, after that, no more email.
When you first hit OneOffEmail.com it'll give you an account that you can click
on to copy and paste whereever. Click on the link to the page and you'll see
your "inbox" where new messages will be posted. Be sure to bookmark this page,
once you loose the address you can't get it back.
OneOffEmail.Com is a read-only setup; meaning you can only get emails here, you
cannot reply to them. However, you can forward the messages to regular email
address, check out the headers of the message or delete the message entirely.
After 7 days, the account will be closed and emails purged.
So, don't give out your email address this holiday season, OneOffEmail it and
don't worry about dealing with the SPAM all year long afterwards.
How do I use it?
1. Bookmark this site.
2. When you come across a form and need a temporary email address, come here.
3. Click on and then Copy-and-Paste the email address into the form you are filling out.
4. Click on the link to your email page and bookmark it.
5. Check back for any messages over the next 7 days.
6. Repeat again when you need a new email address.
That's it!
When does the 7 day period begin?
When you get your first email.
What if I need more than 7 days to collect my email?
Right now there are no options for extending your account; but I expect to have something
in the near future that will help people who find out they need an extension.
Can I make up my own @oneoffemail.com email address?
Yes, but it has to be more than 6 characters long (but less than 16). Just insert your own
id into the address: myusername@oneoffemail.com and use the link
as http://www.oneoffemail.com/myusername.htm
